There’s a Stephen King character named Holly Gibney who was both written and portrayed as white (in the tv series Mr. Mercedes), but who now will also be portrayed as black in a totally different venue (HBO’s The Outsider)but within the same approximate time frame!

Interestingly enough the character will be portrayed by British/African actress Cynthia Erivo, who’s been making quite a name for herself by winning the roles of American heroes Harriet Tubman AND Aretha Franklin! How’s that for cultural appropriation?
